Mr. Fix It

Grandpa was driving cross country with Geoff and Debbie to help them move to Washington DC. They stopped to visit at my in-laws in Dallas for an evening while Megan and I were there. After a few minutes, my mother-in-law could tell that grandpa was getting bored. She had just gotten a new dryer that was not balanced correctly, and she could not figure out how to fix it. She requested his help and he instantly went to work--with enthusiasm. After that project was done, she put him to work on the drippy kitchen sink. This pattern continued throughout the night and into the next morning. After he left, all of the small projects in the house that had been building up over time were fixed. Needless to say, my in-laws would be happy to have grandpa visit again.

  2. I remember when Grandpa Anderson helped us move across country. He drove with Geoff in the U-Haul and I drove with Kathleen in our Civic. I was so grateful that he would take so much time out of his summer to help us move. I am also glad that Grandma Sharon was willing to let her husband go for a week; I know that can be difficult. It made me more comfortable that someone was driving with Geoff in the U-Haul. Now that I have heard more stories of Grandpa Anderson, I am guessing that he probably would have preferred to drive more hours each day. However, I am glad he was willing to stick to eight or nine hours of driving each day; since, I got tired of driving after that long. Also, I thought it was neat that Grandpa Anderson was able to be there for Amanda Eccles endowment session in the DC Temple after our trip across country.
